Pro-Argin, an innovative technology for the treatment of sensitive teeth

Spacer over Text Main

Occasional dentine hypersensitivity is widespread among the population at large, and severe forms of dentine hypersensitivity require treatment in the dental practice. There is a wide range of procedures, methods and potential active ingredients available for treating this difficult clinical symptom. However, there is general consensus that recommended treatment should begin with conservative, minimally invasive methods. As such, topical applications are generally recommended, although these are not fully developed in relation to immediate and long-term efficacy. On the other hand there are restorative treatment options available, but of course these involve a great investment of time, effort and costs for the patient and the dentist treating him. Therefore at the moment there is no completely satisfactory solution for the dental practice with regard to the treatment of acute dentine hypersensitivity which ensures efficacy while at the same time keeping the work and cost involved to a minimum.
This presentation will summarize in-vitro data to illustrate the mechanism of action of an innovative prophylactic paste with Pro-Argin technology. This technology is based on the combination of a natural amino acid, arginine, and calcium carbonate. The results of clinical studies in the efficacy of this new prophylactic paste also demonstrate that the new technology is a useful addition to the treatment options for dentine hypersensitivity in the dental practice.
